Tom Ford Black Orchid Sample

*DISCLAIMER - This review is for the fragrance alone. The seller is amazing, shipping is prompt & efficient, 5 stars.* This has a “classy-mysterious” vibe about it, intriguing but the gardenia note is huge. Unfortunately I really dislike gardenia in perfumery, the smell makes me nauseous, like a moldy flower/mushroom, and I find it often overpowers fragrances (though this could be my nose picking it out and honing in on it because I dislike it). This fragrance is well-crafted and there are notes in here I find very pleasant— the earthy, spicy-sweet chocolate, truffle, & patchouli combo is great—but personally I can’t get past the gardenia. Gardenia also tanked Maison Crivelli’s Patchouli Magnetik for me, it & Black Orchid come off very similarly to my nose. Overall, I think this is a well-made fragrance, quality oils, blended well, just personally isn’t for me.
