Painful to wear

I wanted to love these. I have the Mtn Racers which are super comfortable, I bought these because I needed a road shoe. First, they are the same size as my mtn racers but the are actually half a size larger. When I hold them sole to sole they are visibly larger. I have worn them three times on my treadmill only, and they cause so much pain in the lateral edges of my feet I can’t last more than 10 min running in them. I think they are tight in the mid foot causing this discomfort. I emailed Topo with these concerns asking if I could return the shoe and no one responded. So now I’m stuck with a $220 pair of shoes that I can’t wear, and I need to still buy another pair of road shoes, and I have to find another brand to purchase because I can’t justify the huge price tag on another pair of Topos on the chance that they won’t work for my feet. Unfortunately there are no stores in my area that stock Topos so I have no option to try them on before making a purchase.
