I’ll admit, the L7 and I didn’t exactly become best friends on day one 😂. There was definitely a learning curve. But after the firmware update, things clicked. It’s much more consistent now, and I find myself reaching for it instead of my tape measure more often than I expected. My tape measure is probably getting a little jealous.

More Useful Than I Expected

Got mine a little while ago and have been using it mostly for interior work. So far I’m pretty happy with it. It’s definitely not cheap, but after using it on a few jobs I can see where the money went. The two-point measurement has probably been the most useful feature for me. I wouldn’t use it for anything that needs really tight accuracy, but for quickly getting rough dimensions without having to move around as much, it’s a big time saver. Haven’t really seen that on other laser measures I’ve used. There’s a bunch of other stuff packed into it too. Some of it I probably won’t ever use. The app even has a thing for measuring and saving someone’s height lol. Kinda random, but I guess they really tried to cover every possible use case. Only issue I had was after updating the firmware. The level suddenly just showed 0 no matter how I held it. I thought I broke something at first. Emailed support and apparently the newer firmware requires the level to be recalibrated. Did that and it was back to normal. To be fair, they did mention it on the download page, I just didn’t notice it. They really should make that warning more obvious though. A message on the device after updating would save people some confusion. Anyway, I’ve been using it on interior jobs and it’s earned a spot in my toolbox. Not perfect, and there are probably more features than I’ll ever need, but the stuff I actually use has been genuinely useful.
