I expected more of a Difference

I have been procrastinating about doing this review. Let me point out there is nothing wrong with these reeds, they play very nicely right out of package. The pre release hype made me just expect the difference between the euro classic and these signatures to be more pronounced. The classic in my opinion (I have 3 Medium Soft) are easier blowing than the new Signature( I have 2 Medium Soft). The classic are capable of greater volume than the Signature. The signature has a much more pleasing low to middle register, However the classic on my horn (Yamaha 831L) are nicer sounding above a high A. One of the 2 signatures has a very flat C crow but you can play it in tune with emboshure adjustment. Previously I have gone in person to the studio and picked what I thought were the cream of the crop. This time I ordered online and got two random reeds I suspect if I had gone to the studio I could have picked reeds that were better suited to me. I would definitely buy again. In all likelyhood I will buy a mix of Signature and Classic in the future. I have 6 American Signature reeds and in my opinion on my Yamaha 831 (European bore) they are not as nice sounding as the either the classic or the signature. On my horn the American style are much brighter sounding and definitely harder play in the low register. But they are easier to play pianisimo than either of the Euro styles. I suspect the difference is mainly due to my horn not having the American style bore. I do not know how these Euro reeds will function in an American instrument. I intend to give it a try when I have the opportunity to try someone elses horn. These reeds play equally well in a Loree of a friends. I finally had a failure of one of the first Aerican style reeds (Medium Hard) I purchaseed. It cracked slightly off center in the back of the reed. I probably had over 60 hours playing on that reed. It is now unplayable. Hope some of this rambling info is of interest

European scrape signature oboe reed

Any of the Legere reeds I have tried tend to start out a bit flat, but, the more I play on the reed, the pitch comes up and stabilizes. There is not consistency between reeds and some leak. However, a good alternative for someone like myself who, due to health conditions, am no longer able to make my own.

I've used this MS European scrape for a couple of weeks now, my first trial of Legere reeds, and find the response to be overall good, stable in the upper register but a bit hesitant in the lower register. The intonation is even, and the tone is warm, I just wish it had more volume, I really have to work to get a true forte! At this point, it'll be a good practice reed. I did just order an American scrape, so hoping for a bit better response overall.
