I stumbled across Aklasu while searching for 6-fold ties, which they carry. I ordered the Burgundy and Navy Houndstooth Six-fold Silk tie and a Purple Grenadine just to see�Aklasu�s prices are quite reasonable. I could always give them away, I reasoned, if they weren�t up to standard. No need for that! Both ties arrived in short order in a well-packaged box with the ties inside rolled in a protective canister. Nice touch. And then there was the Skor chocolate bar and a handwritten note from Chantelle. Even nicer. But nicest of all were the two ties�both tie well and stay knotted; both are more substantial than many of my more expensive Italian ties. The Burgundy and Navy Houndstooth is elegant and not duplicated elsewhere. I now have 7 Aklasu ties and am satisfied with each and every one of them. (One quick suggestion: if you are 6�2� or taller, the longer ties when available are a good choice.) I also have four pairs of their over-the-calf dress socks. Nice designs�e.g., the Grey Houndstooth and the Blue and Black Houndstooth�and comfortable fitting socks at a good price. If you�re looking for conservative, understated ties of fine quality, give Mensah and Chantelle a chance.
