Can’t use on textured walls

Was super excited to use the stencil but our walls have light texture and the stencil wouldn’t “stick” to the walls with adhesive spray or painters tape. Not really sure what else to try. Because the stencil is somewhat intricate, it feels like there’s no way I’d be able to get sharp lines since I can’t get the stencil to stay in place. The stencil quality seems fine but it’s sort of unusable with textured walls. The process of purchasing stencil was smooth and shipping was fast but I wish there had been more of a “warning” that stencils are really hard to use on textured walls, or a special tutorial on how to use on textured walls. I googled and asked ChatGPT, but there’s just not really a great solution. I might try anyway, but if I did, I’d definitely be modifying my project to do far less stenciling on the wall where I intend to do it.
