Great Layered Scent From Johnnie Ray

Another great scent profile from Johnnie Ray. It starts off with a tropical burst of passion fruit. A wonderful, sweet top note. One that doesn’t fade away completely, but gives way just enough for the spearmint and bergamot to come through. The spearmint gives it freshness, and the bergamot a subtle kick. This is all tied together with oud. Oud is described many ways: earthy, musky, resinous, woody, smoky. They’re all good descriptors for a smell that’s difficult to describe. What this profile does though is bring about those smoky attributes of oud. So many layers to Torch Lake, makes it another scent journey by Johnnie Ray. It’s similar to Motown in that regard. But where Motown is deep and masculine, Torch Lake is open and atmospheric. Two hours in and the scent is still there; this one is a lingerer. Highly recommended, folks!

The title of this review says it all. I'm blown away by this beard oil! Everything is on point. I got Torch Lake in the Legacy blend which is a super light viscosity, yet somehow manages to outshine J. Ray's old signature sauce in every category. Hydration that lasts all day, softness without being too fluffy, and exceptional styling. Hemisqualane is the real deal! This scent profile is numero uno, hombre. Nate and Hannah have elevated essential oils to, "oh my". The passion fruit pops so dang fresh and the spearmint smells just like my houseplant. Bergamot boosts the citrus while a smooth oud rounds it all out. An all day love affair for your facial hair. Do yourself a favor and savor this concoction deserving of a chef's kiss.

The passion fruit smell from this beard oil is amazing. Very tropical scent. I love it.
