Petra's Southern Rock Remastered Masterpiece

I recently learned of Girder Music and this was my first purchase from them so I really did not know what to expect. This was also my first purchase of a Petra remastered CD. Some of you will remember how Star Song Records released so many 'compilations' albums back in the 80s that I was hesitant to order another Petra title. However, I am extremely glad that I placed the order. I chose the 'Come and Join Us' title because I noticed that Girder finally took the time to rearrange the tracks in the proper order. It always baffled me why my cassette had "Ask Him In" as the second track. It made no sense if you've listened to it. The order on the cassettes got carried over to initial CDs and even to streaming services. No one ever bothered to fix this until Girder. This alone is why I purchased this album. Now I know that this is not the album that everyone first things of when it comes to Petra; but let me tell you - this is some great southern rock from the late 70s. Bob put together a great selection of songs and the remastered sound quality is stunning. It is like listening to the album all over again for the first time. The packaging is also top notch. It felt like how buying CDs used to be before the online streaming. I have Apple Music - and I can still tell you that this new CD sounds better that Apple's lossless format of the same album that has not been remastered. I am now convinced that I'm going to be getting all of the original Petra titles that have been remastered even if I have those albums on CD. This one is that good. I am also going to be looking for other titles that I have lost through the years or want to upgrade. Another Amazing Petra Remaster….Girder Does It Again!

If you have any of the Petra remasters by Girder Records, you’ll know exactly what to expect with the new remasters of their 1974 self-titled debut and the 1977 follow-up “Come And Join Us”. Both of these albums have been brushed aside by fans as they focused more on Petra’s music from the 80’s and 90’s. Even the record labels didn’t give these albums their due diligence as the CD transfers were mediocre at best and the songs were all out of order. Well, that has all been fixed by Girder! We finally get both of these albums with printed lyrics, great artwork, amazing sound quality, and the tracks in the correct order of the original releases! Honestly, the music is pretty amazing….especially when you realize that there were only a handful of Christian rock bands around at that time. It took quite a while for these to finally get the Girder Treatment, but it was definitely worth the wait and I am so glad that I now have them added to my collection!
