True craftsmanship, excellent sale, excellent service, outstanding product. I was satisfied with my purchase before I received it from the customer service. The Authentic, Made in Mexico, Gil Bag gloves, with and without the velcro, was the icing on the cake. Julie is excellent and the gloves were the Real Deal!!!!

Top quality old school glove as expected

I wanted leather old school bag gloves like the speed bag gloves that came with the the speed bag platform I bought in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Flat not super curved, and thin foam padding to allow for close contact of fist with heavy bag. These gloves met those expectations and more. Large fits well (I’m 6’1” size 12.5 shoes) but a bit wide on the hands and thumbs could be 1/2 inch longer. The leather is tops: nice smell, thick, straight stitching, and the piping around the cuff opening is a neat finish to the outside of the glove. The leather outer will hold up for years - I can tell. The inside of the glove has a white tag with a “3” on it. It has a synthetic liner on the back hand side that allows for the gloves to slip on nicely. The palm side liner is more of a cotton feeling fabric that isn’t as smooth as the other side. The thumb is raw leather and the finger tips part feels to be the same. The shape of the glove is contoured as pictured which is comfortable in natural hand position to slip on and off easily. Making a fist: this takes effort because the 1/2 dense foam over knuckles will take time to break in (foam runs full length of glove from finger tips to directly under the GIL badge). Otherwise the grip bar and thumb position allows for a proper clenched fist to avoid injury like jamming the thumb. Striking the heavy bag is nice: I can feel proper contact of my fist connecting with heavy body shots to the sandy bottom of the bag. If I got these custom made I’d want the fingers 1/2 longer (including thumb) and the width 1/2 inch narrower. But these are standardized sizes so I give it 5 stars. These smell great. Not a chemical smell. A natural leather smell. My wife thinks I’m like a kid with his new Christmas gift because I sleep with them by my bedside. I’ll be toting them around with me to break them in so they aren’t so stiff, and expect they won’t be so in a matter of months. Very satisfied.
