Almost the best mouse

I love this mouse except for 3 things that I can fix with a bit of soldering work and glue :) Weights - add the ability to use mouse weights. I have a bunch of logi ones in mine. Scroll wheel buttons - theyre a little mushy. A stiffer click would be a lot better and reduce accidental mouse wheel clicks when scrolling. Scroll wheel clutch - spring-loaded would rule. It made a huge improvement.

The Inbetween

I bought the M925 Viper because my Vampire Elite died. It wasn't the way most mice die, with the buttons (all the credit, they guaranteed mouse clicks and I used it for almost 2 years and beat it to hell), it was the cord kept being pulled by my cat sitting on the cable and eventually the connector in the mouse itself became unseated. I had bought a blind box mouse earlier, which was the Predator from Redragon, so I switched to that. And it was... perfectly useful. But I loved my Vampire Elite... And I really missed the claw grip. I could've gotten the Vampire Elite again, but the thing with the Vampire is that it has ALL the DPI and I always left it barely above minimum. Meanwhile, the Predator was being boosted to it's maximum and still didn't give me the DPI I wanted. So the Viper felt like the ideal middle ground, not as expensive/powerful but more hardware than the Predator. And... It's good. If I'd give the Predator a 2/5 and the Vampire a 5/5, this is solidly a 4/5. I will say that you need to download the software in order to get access to even a fifth of the DPI on offer, which sucks/is not workable if you are planning on using this in a work type place. And the main sticking point is that, in case you had not noticed, the claw grip does feel narrower and has no rubber like the Vampire. But I mean, it's almost half the price most of the time on the site. And the Predator is only a couple dollars less. And it has all the buttons I could ever want. So in sum total, is it as good as the Vampire? No. Is it good enough? Yes. I'd go so far as to say it's great, I just got used to the Vampire and its small creature comforts. When the comparison is less clear, I think I won't think twice about it.
