They sound excellent right out of the box, and they handle EQ exceptionally well. They are comfortable. The tips are good, and the case is good. It would be a 5-star rating if not for the bird-nesting cable. It's thin, light, with zero microphonics, but it has no spring. That means no memory issues, and that's great, but roll them up and set them down, or stick them in the case, and they will tie themselves into knots every time. The cable is just too flimsy. Every time I take them off, they tangle themselves up. It's my only gripe, and it would not stop me from buying them or recommending them. I love them.

It may not be the best overall Planar. It may not be the cheapest IEM with the best sound or the most all-round sound... but so what? This Aether has something few others have. A brutal soundstage. A very well-crafted timbre... that alone makes it worth having, even if it's just as a second headphone in your collection. Its price is very reasonable, and I think it's a great value for what it offers.
