I recently received my copy of Tracks of the NYC Subway. I have begun reviewing certain areas and must say the book is excellent. I was not expecting the level of detail and information it contained. If you need to research the NYC Subways i urge you to look at this book as an irreplaceable resource. Be well my friends.

I still have a copy of the first, spiral-bound edition of Tracks of the New York Subway (1997). Having grown up in the city and ridden the subways since high school, I wanted to know more abut what I observed from the front windo of so many subway rides (back when you could stand next to the motorman's cab and look out the front). Even then, the book was a revelation (as an example, I finally realized how (and why) the downtown local/express tracks swapped platform sides between 49th and 42nd Street stations as well as what was going on at Queens Plaza!). To say nothing of all the painstaking detail that is included in the current version. Kudos to Peter for producing this labor of love that we all cherish!

I buy this every one or two years. I don’t live near NYC but I am a railroad fan. I’ve ridden the subway maybe twenty times, But I really like the info, the track diagrams, the updates, and the incredible amount of time it has to take to produce this! Also, with the PDF you can just click a page link and you go to that page. Even footnotes can link to a website for more information. Great job.
