Weikav - STARS80 Standard Edition Mechanical Keyboard

Delivery did take a while, said next day but took 9, but i can understand that since the board is a chinese one hence the longer delivery time. Box came in good condition. The board itself had 3 switches already in it to anchor the board down to stop the pcb move during shipping which is a nice touch, has a deep sound profile which is pleasant, works with VIA just download the standard edition json from weikav to upload to via to configure it. I LOVE the metal accent beneath the delete row since it reflects the keys and adds some character to the board. The quick release feature for the top housing is a very nice touch. The weight on the bottom has a compartment which is easy to remove to access the dongle for wireless which is nice.

I like the keyboard, it is very sturdy, heavy, and the wireless modes work flawlessly so far. Switching between wireless and wired mode happens fast and smooth. The VIA software is a clunky mess and I cannot find the actual proper profile for this exact keyboard. I was told the “standard edition” is the edition before the one with the multi-colored corner cutouts. Strangely enough, the instructions for the keyboard I got were for that specific board, not the Standard Edition. Either way, it is working well, I can change any key’s function with VIA. The backlight color selector on the VIA software does not set the right color so that is awkward to use. Overall, this board gives the feel of a premium keyboard without paying over 200 for a barebones setup.
