GREAT PRODUCT TO HAVE NOT A GAME CHANGER FOR COLD WEATHER
Overall Assessment The Surfdry Wetsuit & Bootie Dryer is a well-designed and reliable product that performs well within its intended scope. For its price range, it represents a valuable addition to a surfer’s gear setup and noticeably improves drying times compared to simply hanging a wetsuit to air dry. That said, performance is highly influenced by environmental conditions and wetsuit thickness. Winter Use – 5/4 mm Wetsuit in Cold, Humid Environment In my case, I use a 5/4 mm wetsuit during winter and leave it to dry in a garage to avoid bringing sand into the house. The garage environment is typically cold and humid. Under these conditions: After 24 hours, the wetsuit is not fully dry and still retains noticeable moisture. After approximately 48 hours, it reaches a reasonably dry state, though not completely dry as it would be in a warm indoor environment. As a result, when drying a thick winter wetsuit in a cold and humid space, the dryer does not consistently allow for a fully dry wetsuit within 24 hours. This is particularly relevant for surfers who rely on a strict day-to-day turnaround during winter. This limitation appears to be more related to environmental factors and neoprene thickness than to the product itself. Summer Use – 2/3 mm Wetsuits Performance is significantly different in warmer conditions. With: Higher ambient temperatures Lower humidity Thinner wetsuits (2 or 3 mm) The Surfdry dryer is capable of drying the wetsuit within 24 hours, making it possible to surf on consecutive days with a dry suit. In these conditions, the product performs very effectively and delivers clear added value. Final Verdict The Surfdry Wetsuit & Bootie Dryer is: A solid and well-built product Good value for its price Highly effective in mild to warm conditions Particularly suitable for thinner wetsuits However, it should not be considered a complete solution for drying thick 5 mm winter wetsuits in cold, humid environments within a 24-hour window. In conclusion, it is a useful and recommended accessory, especially outside of peak winter conditions, but not a definitive “game changer” for heavy winter neoprene unless drying can occur in a warmer indoor space.
