Black - FKM GL-831 Rubber Diver Strap (19/20/22mm)

I recently inherited my late father's vintage Seiko 6309-7040, which he purchased in the early 80's in Hong Kong whilst working there as a civil engineer. The watch is a 1980 model, two years younger than me. As a child I remember being fascinated by my Dad's watch. I used to see him wearing it every day during the 80's and 90's, and I didn't even know he still had it, so it means a huge amount to me to be able to now be the custodian of the Seiko 6309. I have since had the watch painstakingly restored, waiting patiently over a three month period for it to be returned. The one thing remaining I wanted to improve on was the strap. At some point the original rubber strap must have broken, as it had a replacement leather strap fitted, which didn't suit the watch at all. Having done plenty of research on watch straps for Seiko watches, and tried a couple of cheap Amazon and eBay options, I arrived at Uncle Straps. I wanted two straps; one rubber to match the original black strap, and a stainless steel bracelet to really make the watch stand out and give the "turtle" a beautiful bracelet the design deserves. I ordered the Black FKM GL-831 Rubber Diver Strap 22mm and the Beads of Rice Bracelet (see my other review). I'm so glad I found out about Uncle Straps. The FKM GL-831 is just like the original I remembered. It is a comfortable to wear and fits very well. I went for the 'short' option to ensure less overhang. The strap was easy to fit and comes with larger diameter pins than cheaper strap options. The rubber itself is very soft and flexible, compared to cheaper rubber options that can be quite stiff. I'm based in the United Kingdom, and chose the FedEx fast delivery option. The package literally arrived within 2 days from the USA, which is staggering. Overall I'm hugely impressed with the FKM GL-831 rubber strap and overall customer service. With this strap fitted the 6309 looks exactly as it did all those years ago, so I have the option go for the original look or the stainless steel look depending on how I'm feeling.
