Striped Canvas Waterproof Outdoor Fabric

Striped fabric for awning

The red and white fabric is bright and slippery. It is advertised as waterproof. I am replacing the old awning which was canvas. It is a curved, arc-ed armature. The canvas had some slight stretch to it which allowed the stitched panels to wrap nice and tight over the armature. This fabric has no give at all. I am trying to figure out how to cut and stitch it in such a way that it will conform to the shape. It’s a huge challenge.
