Surviving White Island

This is an amazing book written by a stunningly gutsy young lass. It has an unusual format, that perfectly fits the occasion. This is so well written and captivating that you'll read it in one sitting, then you'll likely muse over it for some days, as the sheer bravery of Kelsey stays in your mind.

I’m only half way through but what I have read is so good and so sad at the same time.

The only book you need to read in 2026

I couldn’t put this down. I finished the book within four days. It would have been faster but I have a toddler who occupies 95% of my time, so I can only read when he sleeps. Kelsey’s story is harrowing and raw. I recommend buying a box of tissues when you purchase this book. But despite it being heartbreaking to read the ordeal she has experienced, it was also inspirational. I feel so lucky to have been able to read this and know a little bit about what her life since the eruption has been like. This will probably be the only book I read this year, because I feel like anything else just won’t live up to this. Thank you Kelsey for having the bravery to share your story with the world.
