Star Trek: Defiant, Vol. 1

This is a fine quality hardcover. Nice paper, print, color. Definitely worth the $25 list price. I will be vague so there are no spoilers. The storyline and dialogue is smart and enjoyable. There is some banter between characters, but it is not used excessively. The characters are highly flawed and self-serving but seemingly working together toward a noble cause. The art focuses primarily on the characters and their expressions. This allows for a rich dialogue and a fast-paced story. Overall, this graphic novel was both intellectually stimulating and a lot of fun. Everything you’d hope for in Star Trek. I look forward to volume 2.
