I felt the sheath needed to be cut back some and the exposed tinned wire was too short.
I cut the sheath back about 3/4” to give more room for heat shrink tubing. Yes, I solder and use heat shrink. Call me old school.
Then I stripped the individual wires about an additional 1/4” and tinned the wires to ensure good contact in the controller terminals.
