VSX2 Bail-less Black Spinning Reel

Built like a tank

Very smooth and extremely well made. I grew up on Baileys reels and so glad I bought this one. I love the simplicity and machined quality. Many other reels today and in my past experience have way to many parts with little added to performance. People tend to confuse smooth, this reel is, with a bit of crank inertia due to all of the robust sealing. I very fair trade off. Buy one, I see it as an investment.

The only reel I fish!

Van Staal is the only reel I fish anymore. Their durability and performance is beyond all others.

Not what I was expecting.

First off, the reel is a lead weight which isn't in and of itself bad, just seems a little hefty. There are no maintenance kits to be had, so we have to send into an authorized repair center. I have been maintaining my own reels since I was a kid, i'm 54 now. Scratched my side cover trying to get into the reel and make sure it wasn't over/undergreased, getting a replacement side cover is taking forever.
