Super upgrade to Strat 6 screw trem

I replaced the 6-screw tremolo on my Fender Highway One Strat with the Vega Trem VT1 and I am loving it. I had blocked my 6-screw trem to help stabilize it but it still tended to go out of tune when used, and I finally realized I hate the blocked tremolo anyway, you can't use it for gentle modulation, mainly dive bombs and with the tuning issues I just didn't use it much. I just had my second gig with the Vega Trem Strat this weekend and I loved having a floating trem again, and this takes a much lighter touch than the blocked trem also much lighter than my floyd rose guitar, and it is lovely to play. I went with 2 high tension springs vs the recommended 2 medium tension strings for .010's, it helps keep me from inadvertently detuning by touching the bar lightly, and it is perfect for me, still very touch responsive.

After having great results replacing a wilkenson that had a boogered up knife edge and really enjoying the smooth feel and tuning stability of the ultra, i wanted to try swapping on another strat. After 30 yrs of trem block swapping, different materials, different weights, and always wondering the benefits. Trying to get the greater sum of the parts to be "that" guitar. Over the years alot of changes/mods would require sacrificing a little something good. Now, the Vega-Trem. First impressions on both special and ultra were, how is this oddly shaped machined block going to equal my giant square trem block? Don't know, but it does. I can't say i noticed anything missing on either guitar with 100% different woods and pickups. Both guitars sound like themselves with no reduction in sustain or harmonics. In fact, it seems like i can raise and lower and raise harmonics without the note dying out far more than ever before. The smoothness of trem action is unlike any trem i have felt. Because there are easier micro bends that don't die out, things like slide or steel feels way closer to possible. I think smoothness at all points creates this. Partly the pivot edge and partly springs for specific string gauges. This should be absolutely required add to every guitar with a trem. I use 9's. I tried quite a few spring combos from the included choices and went back to the two springs for 9. This felt right, stays in tune and has the perfect amount of resistance. This trem returning to tuned is amazing after abusing the hell out of it. It looks great and feels nice on the hand when resting picking hand on it. The build looks to be good quality. This review would be 5 stars if not for the saddle height adjustment screws would only screw so far and then the allen key would strip out. Annoying, but better longer, stronger hex screws can be got at monster bolts. I may be the only person who experienced this. Won't stop me from buying another. I think this bridge is an answer to my sum of the parts quest. I love it! Should always be said, **this bridge does not fix your poorly done nut filing job!**
