They were comfortable right from start. Walked for 70 minutes in the neighborhood. A couple days later, we did a 45 minute hike. No break-in issues, no slipping on the trail, and the tread doesn't accumulate pebbles like my old shoes did. I'm very happy with these, so far.

Everything that’s good about the flagship running models is good about these too. They seem to be holding up well, and if they don’t, Xero has stood behind their sole warranty for other products. Compared to the Prio, the sole is a little more durable, with a little less ability to feel the ground and a little harder to roll or flatten for packing, but if you’re running on potentially sharp rocks or urban debris, it’s a worthwhile trade.
