Paper vs Digital
I do miss the digital versions of the guides. So much more convenient! To find a restaurant or hotel in a given neighborhood, etc. I would pay for that too!

Disappointed overall. Liked that food and accommodation options have taken a lower precedence. Lines on maps in book eg cable car/fernicular were too light causing confusion. Maps overlapped but didn't plot sights that overlapped from other chapters. Had to do alot of marking where sights were on the map with page numbers to reference what page to find them in the text for anything in the book to be of any use and it was difficult to get an overall picture for planning for length of stay without a city map showing all of city. Pertinent information put in seperate boxes on different pages to main text. Written as a novel in paragraph form rather than more easily reference blocks per attraction/sight. No costs or indication of high/ ow/medium on each sight so no idea of what to prioritise or budget. No 'getting there and away' mentions for applicable sites where needed eg closest metro. City map (useful for plotting before trip) was dire. Previous city map (Berlin) covered a larger city and it had the metro map included, so it is possible. Got a city map from Tourist Info which was same size which included whole city and seperate metro map. Not even a metro map in the book. Latest edition doesn't even mention walking possibilities in Monserrat and day trips from Berlin had no 'getting there and away' section. Index missed some sight names. Lonely planet used to be called 'The Bible'. I know technology has moved on but if you are buying a book you expect it to work as its own entity rather than be a pictorally pretty and funky laid out shelf accessory. Perhaps there are better brands....or get an older version cheaper. Feels lazily updated with little 'on the ground' rigor. Perhaps a cost cutting reliance on users using apps now.
