They are for studs that have a post that is not too thin. Some earrings that I have the post is too thin for them.

I really like them. They are comfy & secure. Also seem more hygienic. I have to clean the butterfly's every few months usually, due to shampoo, hair products etc building up inside grooves but dont see that happening with these.
