I have read ALL of Michael Reit's books. Need i say more. But, I will because they deserve it! They are well written. These books follow several characters throughout the series. They follow the resistance fighters, the men in the concentration camps from the Netherlands. The author has certainly done his research for these books. They are page turners, that are hard to put down. Hard because you want to know what happens next. Hard because it is difficult to fathom the horrific things that happened during these years. It will not leave you unchanged. On an aside, later in his life, my father mentioned he was a resistance fighter in the Netherlands. But as is common, he never discussed it. So, i never really understood what that was about. Well, now i do. Thank you Michael. 🙏❤️

I absolutely enjoyed reading the 3 books in the trilogy “ Orphans of War”.I was at times shocked at the brutality afforded the prisoners and occasionally shed a tear.Although I grew up reading and hearing stories re the brutality. these books portrayed it and the horrific conditions in a “warts & all”way.Lets hope the unbridled truth of the appalling violence sends a strong message that it should never be forgotten or repeated. Really,truly enjoyed reading these books with the insights of the bravery of many special individuals.

Oh my goodness. What a fabulous trilogy. This is the first book of the three but once I’d completed it I had to read the other two in the series, as well. They are all nail biting and a compelling read. I first discovered Michael Reit’s books when I downloaded and read ‘Beyond The Tracks’. I was really moved by the book and decided to search for more of his books. This is when I discovered the ‘Orphans of War’ trilogy. I love his writing style and he has had me gripped from the start, with all of his books. The books are an extremely moving read. Michael knows how to grab the reader’s attention and clearly does extensive research of the historical facts for his books. As we were planning a holiday to The Netherlands, I was keen to read ‘Orphans of War’ before we went and to learn more about the country. The first book starts in Amsterdam. Reading the trilogy made me even more excited about our upcoming trip and I was keen to learn more about how the Netherlanders coped during the occupation. Thank you for ‘educating’ us about how The Netherlands and its people’s lives were affected during WW2. Places and events in the books also influenced our plans for some of the places we visited during our trip. I was singing the praises of the trilogy to the museum staff at Overloom, encouraging them to read the books too. It is a beautiful country and the people are so welcoming and friendly. I can’t wait to visit again. I recommend these books to the couple who went away with us and they are enjoying them too. The books are so well written. The only drawback is that I couldn’t put them down and read late into the night/early morning to find out what happened. It’s a good job I’m retired 😂. I absolutely recommend these books. Now I need to find more of Michael’s books to read. Thank you Michael. Please keep writing.
