This is the best chicory I have found. I mix chicory 1:2 with French roast coffee, grind it fine, and brew it double strength with a filter coffee maker. For café au lait, mix that 1:1 with steamed milk, or just add cold milk and heat the mix in a microwave. This is a great way to start a day. I've never tried chicory alone, but lots of milk would smooth out some of the bitterness.
