At first I thought they were pretty much just swim shorts but the more I wear them I can see them as boardwalk shorts and hybrid shorts. I would also recommend getting the 7 inch seam unless you like tiny running shorts.

Nice quality shorts. Stretchy and comfortable. Would knock a star off for the big rubber patch on the leg but not really a killer.
