Beethoven: Complete Symphonies Vol.2 (Download)

Superb musicianship captured on a superbly engineered recording.

I primarily listen to music on a headphone system that includes Hifiman Susvara headphones. I read good things about Spirit of Turtle downloads, so I thought I'd give the site a try. I went for volume 2 of the Beethoven Symphonies that includes the wonderful 3rd Symphony. I'm very pleased that I did. The separation of instruments and the 'size' of the soundscape is exceptional. It allows you to easily follow the way Beethoven develops themes and 'flows' them across the entire orchestra. The subtle development of intensity and tone colour within each section of the orchestra, and the way you can hear how each instrument contributes to the overall sound of the orchestra, is a joy to behold. The dynamics range, in particular, is exceptional. The timbre of each instrument is realistic and beautiful. The quality of the musicianship and the quality of the recording are both as good as it gets. I've already made a repeat purchase, Vol. 5 which includes the 7th Symphony. All the exceptional traits that appear on the 3rd are there on the 7th too.

Sounds Incredible For a 2008 Recording

I purchased the 6 CD set Beethoven Symphonies back in 2008. At the time HIP was popular and Immerseel’s performances were exciting and very well recorded compared to contemporaries like Mackerras. It’s been a decade since I last listened to these performances. But thanks for re-engineering these in glorious DXD! Vibrant sound, incredible detail, a real insight into classical music masterpieces
