Turkiye - Book

More attractive visual presentation, much less information

The last time I bought and used a Lonely Planet guidebook was for a visit to Japan in 2023, published in Dec 2021. Before travelling I felt comfortable I knew what I wanted to visit and to do, but more importantly, how I wanted to do it. With this new type of guidebook I feel much less confident and have many questions unanswererd. For example, I don’t know what I’ll need to do when I land at Istanbul Airport. All I can find is “Buses travel to Taksim” and the “M11 metro” (p. 49). If I compare this with all the information I have for airport transport in the Japan guidebook I used for the last time, the difference becomes apparent: pp. 159-161, with all options explained for each airport. I’ve used Lonely Planet for the past 30 years, but next time I will have to browse in a bookstore and compare, because I don’t feel that my guide to Türkiye gives me what I expect from a Lonely Planet guidebook.

Awesome. Full of exciting places to visit in all the different regions of Türkiye. Very helpful and easy to read. Will be great when We plan our exact itinerary

Love the new formats with lots of pictures, local tips and articles - really helpful for getting a sense of areas and thinking up itineraries
