I love this reel ….My first time using it was today …I went on a deep drop California trip … The smoothness of this reel cannot be adequately put into words …I cranked in over a dozen Rockfish from over 400 feet …This may not be the intended use for this reel but it’s what I got it for …A good Rockfish combo rod and reel that can do it all from 50 feet to 400 and more …I got the 300 .It was an excellent choice paired with the 7 foot accurate rod …the rod was also very impressive ..very sensitive ..I could feel every nibble even from over 400 feet up.. I honestly didn’t expect that or how light it was …this combo that was suggested to me by a friend was one of the better investments I’ve made in years …I fished this combo for over 8 hours with no fatigue from my wrist or arms …pricey yes ..but in my opinion well worth it

Purchased Valiant 2 and spooled it with 50# braid, paired it with a Phenix Black Diamond 9' XH. Cast very smooth, retrieves smoothly maintaining my Surface Irons action
