Petzl Protec Rope Protector

You think you don't need it, but you do.

The Petzl Protec is designed to protect your rope when it's running over an edge, especially when you're abseiling or top roping - a velcro sheath which wraps around the rope and keeps it safe from sharp edges. Realistically most ropes are fantastically wear resistant, but there's more to this device. It definitely keeps the rope safe and extends its life but the rubberised bottom is brilliant for keeping the rope in place, stopping it from wandering and prevents it getting jammed in cracks and slots. I wonder how I did without it now and use it constantly.
