Almost perfect crossover!
I've owned a Pakt One Travel Duffel for some years now and love it (except for how the materials attract dust and hair)! But with kids it's always handy to wear a backpack to have free hands. I love how this backpack has the same suitcase opening than the duffel. But I would love to see 2 improvements in the next version. 1. The side handles. They are too thin and uncomfortable to use. Not that they would, but I can't stop having the feeling of them tearing apart. The bag already has a very good option to stow away the back straps. I hope the side handles would be even like the Pakt One to really have the duffel feel. 2. Easy access zippers. One of my favorite features in the Pakt One are the easy access zippers. This backpack attempts to do the same, but since the access is from the top it only accesses part of the compartment, and also from the narrow part. This means it is not possible to get to things in the bottom without emptying the top first. And even then, things from the bottom may not fit through the narrow opening. That is the case of my large packing cube. If this zippers where oriented horizontally it would allow a much better access, just like the duffel. I would leave the laptop sleeve vertical, though (loved the new implementation without the zipper!). Which is no problem, since the access is through the clamshell zippers, and not the quick access. Please, Pakt! And thank you for making such incredible bags!

A 7 month review, 4.5 stars
I wanted to thoroughly test this bag before giving a review. I own multiple product of Pakt and I genuinely like their ethos and the product that they deliver. They handle very well in the field and they are robust (I do not baby my bags and I am in hard fields). My use cases: one bag travel, humanitarian work. Short answer: An excellent carry on bag, robust, lightweight, with great organisation and tones of space, with great integration of their system. Maybe too much organisation and not simple enough, with the padding of the strap being maybe a concern to think about The excellent: The weight. I do not know how they manage it, but it is perfect! It gives you enough room to put so much stuff in without being then too heavy on the shoulders. It is also very robust. The bag got stuck full of important material on the ground and got dragged and came out with just scuff, good job to the team! Same with the weather sealing. Was on multiple downpour and everything was dry inside! The good: The size of the bag is great, a good mix of taking a lot but not too bulky that it doesn't fit in an air plane, all the compartment are well thought out, the straps are robust even though they don't look like it, the padding, although stiff at the beginning will soften and take the shape of your body, you can strap the bag smaller too when it is not full. A concern: One thing to note is that the padding on the strap, although it will soften with time, depending on the anatomy, may never be comfortable for some people. Future upgrade? Maybe make the inside panel where the laptop is completely removable if needed? Sometimes I don't need this panel and wished for just a big hauler. Things to think about: this bag is particular in the way it wants you to carry; all the compartment, where you can clip pouches to have quick access, etc. If someone only wants a massive hauler and "simpler" in design, this bag may not be for you. My wish for the pakt team: now please Pakt team, please... make this exact same bag... but 28L! It would be an instant buy for me! It would be my small one bag travel when I am only in holiday and not working! Or make your 22L daybag in a 28L, I don't care! And if you can make it the same colour as your 22L daybag in sand colour... Just take my money! Cheers to all!

Great bag
This is my second travel backpack from Pakt. This upgrade solved everything wrong with my first. It's lighter. Doesnt have unnecessary pockets. Better materials. Great colorway. Overall, extremely impressed with the quality and attention tondetail. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that the rings attaching the pulls to the zippers are too thin and pull off the zipper every now and then. Not a huge deal but very annoying to put back on, especially when in a time crunch on the way out the door.
