Rotary Roller (RR2)

Very good rotary, incomplete instructions

Took ten days to arrive. Too long a wait. The rotary itself was easy to adjust and plug into my Algo Delta. There are some things to figure out when getting it set up properly with Lightburn. Instructions are clear as far as they go, but stop a bit short. Roller diameter must be carefully measured and set in Lightburn…and then some testing to have engravings come out the right size/shape. A one inch vector square now comes out perfectly engraved….yet photo/jpg come out a bit stretched in Y but perfect in X direction. Different roller setting’s required…at least so far. Other than that, a very well designed and built rotary. I’d buy again and recommend, even though instructions appear to be a bit lacking. Several cables are included so it can adapt to different diode lasers. Really expands your laser’s functionality.

Great so far

Really quality printer, takes a bit of messing around to understand all the seatings through LightBurn. Had issues with no soft limits or hard limits being turned on by default then when you hit the extent of the travel the machine would try hard to exceed the physical limits and bang. LightBurn would assume it moves and then the coordinates would be all messed up when trying to home or start and etch. Once I turned the soft and hard limits on is working better. I also had to turn the sensitivity of the vibration way down or up? As when etching wood at a really fast rate would vibrate itself enough to trip it on vibration. Overall though the quality is very high, packaging and setup out of box is really good. Lacking some technical details in any manuals for the settings though, but some playing start to understand them a bit maybe. This is my first laser, I have three Prusa 3D printers so was maybe expecting the XY to work much like them where the printer G code really understands where the print head is, could be that using 3rd party software in Lighburn vs using Prusa’s own software for their printers makes the difference. Would highly recommend though in the end. The etch and burn quality is really good, and I have the RR2 and for etching mugs and such works without issue. You need to spend a lot of time though on “practice” burns to really get a good feel for what the printer in going to do.
