SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus | ZBDongle-E

I am very happy with the SONOFF Hydro DUO. The device works well, both water outlets can be controlled separately, and the integration with Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant works as expected. Bluetooth control is also useful as a backup. The automatic shut-off after the configured irrigation duration also worked in my test. For my garden irrigation, this is exactly the kind of product I was looking for: two controllable water channels, flow metering, battery operation, Zigbee support, and no need for a proprietary irrigation ecosystem. The only issue I had was with the battery compartment cover. In my unit, the inner frame of the cover slightly pushed the batteries away from the contacts. Because of that, the device looked completely dead at first, even with freshly charged batteries. I solved it by carefully removing a very small amount of material from the inside of the battery cover with a small rotary tool. After that, the batteries made proper contact, the cover fitted much better, and the device worked perfectly. So overall: great product and great value, but SONOFF should check the tolerance of the battery cover. This small mechanical issue can make the device appear defective, even though the electronics are fine.

Great hardware, slightly confusing documentation

It would have received 5 stars, but the documentation was a bit difficult to find a way in. Once I figured out what I needed to do (basically nothing), it was easy. Part of this is some confusion around how Zigbee works.

Works out if the box with home assistant. Great product.
