Gothic Curved Lever Lock Set | From The Anvil

Over the years the handles became a little loose and wobbly but not from the fixings. We ordered a new pair and just replaced them. The 2 holes for fixing were different but the old holes were cover by the plate, so I just drilled 2 new holes. Lock and handle spindle were exactly the same. Only thing - why do fixing hole positions differ or get changed on an item. Very annoying.
