Poor quality and poor design
I was hoping that these straps would be a suitable replacement to the gate straps I had used from Walpole Woodworkers for a different gate in the same fenced area. I was wrong. Quality difference is like night and day. I had three issues: 1) The heads for two screws snapped off even though I had pre-drilled holes and a third head stripped. It was the first screw I used that broke off so I was lucky enough that I could offset the placement of the hinge to not create a major problem and then I used other leftover screws from my Walpole Project to secure the hinges in place except I ran out with one screw to go and it was the last screw provided with the straps that snapped off. So if you are counting, I attempted to use three screws that were included in the packaging, one head got stripped and two heads snapped off for a 100% failure rate. And worst of all, since it was the last screw that snapped off, I could not offset the hinge plate to make an adjustment so now I have only three screws effectively holding the top plate of the top hinge in place. Hopefully this does not become a problem for me a year from now. 2) The hole placement for the carriage bolt was a quarter of an inch closer to the hinge pin than the strap hinges I had received from Walpole. This means that I have less gate material between the carriage bolt and hinge pin to supprt the weight of the gate. It is working for now, but moving hole for the carriage bolt a quarter inch to the right of the pin (like it is for the hinges from Walpole) would make me feel more secure. 3) It seems like the black coating was applied to the carriage bolt and nut after the nut had been threaded on the bolt. The nut was "frozen in place" due to the coating and I needed Vise Grips, a wrench and WD-40 to remove the nut from the bolt when I took it out of the packaging which only served to mangle the head and strip off most of the coating. Fortunately, and again I am making another plug for Walpole, they had provided a small vial of black vinyl paint that I was able to apply to the bolt and nut after it was assemble. All in all, this is a poor quality product and the old adage of "You get what you pay for" holds true in this instance. I would not recommend this product to anyone. The hinges from Walpole were only $27 more expensive and I sorely wish that I had purchased them over these hinges. For anyone else considering which brand to buy, go with those hinges and you will be much happier.

Sturdy Hinge
Great hinge for the gates of my new fence construction. Last year I used this hinge for a main access gate and there is no signs of sagging
