Great pattern. I've messed about trying to create my own pattern which did work but not as well fitting as a pro's pattern. Sizing is true to fit. I've been using 'scraps' of Alpha Direct to make socks. Currently using AD 120 to see how compares with the AD60. Serging and using 3/8" SA to make sure I catch all the edges

Amazing fit, very warm and appreciated by the homeless
I received this pattern as a pdf from The Green Pepper pattern company, so I could do charitable work and make fleece socks for the homeless. Did you know that socks are the number one think asked for by the homeless at the homeless shelters, especially in the winter. Most of the homeless do not have great snow boots and they leak. A pair of warm dry socks goes a long way in this situation. These socks when made with the right fleece will fit inside a boot. I have had lots of requests from patrons at the shelter for more fleece socks. They all know me as the hat lady as I make them hats in the winter. The pattern is easy to follow, but what I do recommend is that when you are sewing the rib knit to the top of the sock, use a zig zag stitch and also use Coats and Clarks Eloflex thread which has a little bit of stretch or Mettler Seraflex thread. Remember this area has to stretch over the heel. If you use regular thread in this area it will likely snap on you. Anyway, here is a picture of the completed sock. It is an AI photo but shows that this sock is meant to be a fitted sock. Kuddo's to The Green Pepper for making an outstanding pattern and donating a pattern so I can make these socks for the homeless.

I love the Polar Socks Pattern. I am not a super experienced sewer, but this pattern is easy to follow. I bought my first pattern last winter and made several pair for myself and for gifts. I just purchased a second pattern for my 22 year old granddaughter. She is wanting to learn how to sew and we both think this would be a good pattern to start with.
