Invest in a pipe wrench. A big one

Fantastic upgrade to an solid but aging Aeron - feels like a new chair again. Be aware that the removal can be very difficult, and I regret not picking up a 24" pipe wrench - but the 18" eventually did the job

Replacement Aeron Gas Lift

Great item. Fixed my sinking Herman Miller Aeron chair. You will probably need a large pipe wrench to get the old one out the chair. You can find good instructions on YouTube.
