The Salty Hundo

I have fished saltwater inshore for 35 years. Shimano was my go to…started with Castaic, Chronarch, Curado…all good reels. After fishing the Salty Hundo paired with a lightweight Sarge custom rod, I can never go back. I always thought people overpaid for equipment to show off, or that it was unnecessary. I have always spent good money for very decent equipment. But after using this combo, I am not fatigued afterwards…even after hammering reds for hours. I am not a casual fisherman. I have a logbook from 1997 that I fished 300 days that year. I started barefoot in the flats with no shirt ,a ball cap, and 3 gold spoons back in 1988. I fish 70+ days per year still. We Oldschoolers don’t veer off our habits much, but this reels gonna save my 53 year old achy bones some years on the water, I promise. It is so light, it feels like a toy at first…almost uncomfortably light. But, once you open the tension all the way and zing it, you realize you are no longer cheating on yer old girlfriend…yet leaving her! It’s legit!
