“Changing the Way We Think”: A Powerful Visual for Building Growth Mindset Classrooms
The Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset Brain Display – Social Emotional Learning Wall Display is a thoughtful and visually impactful resource that helps bring positive psychology and social-emotional learning to life within the classroom. Designed to support student wellbeing, resilience, and confidence, this display goes beyond decoration — it actively teaches students how to recognise and reshape their thinking. Using two contrasting brain visuals, the resource clearly illustrates the difference between fixed mindset and growth mindset thinking in a way that is accessible and meaningful for primary students. What makes this display especially effective is the use of arrows and statement reframes, which explicitly model how negative or self-limiting thoughts can be transformed into language that supports perseverance, reflection, and growth. Students are able to see common learning frustrations represented visually through fixed mindset statements they may genuinely relate to, such as feelings of failure, self-doubt, or giving up when tasks become difficult. The paired growth mindset responses then guide students toward healthier, more empowering ways of thinking, helping to normalise challenge as part of the learning process. Teachers will appreciate the practical flexibility of this resource. The editable statements allow educators to tailor the display to their classroom needs and student experiences, making the learning highly relevant and authentic. The printable display pieces are also ideal for wellbeing corners, counselling spaces, classroom walls, and explicit mindset lessons. One of the strongest features of this resource is how it makes invisible thinking visible. Rather than simply telling students to “have a growth mindset,” it clearly demonstrates the process of reframing thoughts, helping children understand that their brains can grow through effort, practice, and persistence. This creates powerful opportunities for ongoing classroom discussions around resilience, self-talk, and emotional regulation. Perfect for establishing a supportive classroom culture, this display acts as a daily visual reminder that mistakes are part of learning and that challenges can help us grow. It is a meaningful resource for educators wanting to foster confidence, emotional safety, and a positive learning mindset within their students. A simple yet powerful classroom display that encourages students to believe in their ability to learn, improve, and succeed.

This is such an incredible visual. I set thisup and lunch and seeing their faces when they saw this in the afternoon was gorgeous! We spent time talking about what each means and I have already used this to refer back to when students are displaying a fixed mindset. It is such a cool resource!
