This is an excellent book, I have similar books with collections of stories in and this one has good stories throughout and great introductions from Weird Walk.

While I adore collections of stories such as this one, The Haunted Trail is possibly the most well-curated I have read in this format; a chronological exploration of British rambling weird.
Every story feels unique, and the themes presented are continuously built upon, with more horror and tension than the last. Eventually, this leads to the epic crescendo that both romanticises the spirit of what we have lost as walkers, while also making me scared of the idea of ever going back to that way of life. Although, the former greatly outweighs the later.
Each story is then accompanied by beautifully succinct biographies of the authors, as well as a clarifying summary of the rambling features that are now missing from this isolated country.
A wonderful, haunting production - a perfect read for autumn.
