Runs small through chest

I bought this for my husband who always wears a size L and it is a very fitted shirt through the chest and shoulders. The buttons gap when he puts his hands on his hips. Nice shirt, but next time I will size up in this brand when buying button down shirts for men.

Sizing off

Great plaid and material. Always a medium And this medium shrunk to a near small after the first wash. Not sure what to do about it.
