i like neutral, natural sounding audio. i dont like any embelishments. i sold a much more expensive dac to get this one and im happy with it. turned out to be a come up if you ask me. there are better dacs out there but for the money this is really really good. sounds great coming from xlr output

Tiny Box, Big Sound. . .

Overall, I'm very pleased with the sound characteristics. For an entry level, beginner class DAC, it is very clean, dynamic with good presence, decent sound stage imaging and excellent frequency response. Surprising how neutral sounding this DAC is. Not anywhere near the level of my reference system DCS, but quite good. I think this would work well for a nicer mid-fi stereo system using components like Hegel, Pass Labs, PS Audio, etc. Not capable enough with my D' Agostino and Magico reference system. However, overall, excellent value for a little DAC.
