What an excellent kit for first time crocheters!! I really enjoyed making this handbag! It was packaged up so nicely when I I received it in the mail with a nice handwritten note. This was my first time crocheting (other than the occasional single chain provisional cast on for knitting). The wooden crochet hook had a nice feel to it and just felt good and comfortable in my hand. The rope yarn was very sturdy and did not fray or get fuzzy when I worked with it. Due to the rope's sturdy construction, it held its shape and position. This was nice so that a number of times when my crochet hook slipped through without having a hold of the rope, the stitches stayed in place; they did not unravel and I could simply try pulling it through again. I made my stitches pretty tight, which made it a little difficult at times since the rope is very sturdy and not stretchy. The video instructions were great and proved to be a huge help. After I got further in the handbag, I felt confident enough to simply use the written instructions that came with the kit. I made the small size in the color parchment as a pre-wedding bridal gift for my daughter (filled with goodies for her and her fiance). The end result turned out beautifully and the sturdy cotton rope makes it look professional. I enjoyed making it so much that I just bought two skeins of mushroom colored rope to make a handbag as a gift for somebody and one for myself! I also hope to make some small baskets with the remaining rope. Also, independent of the kit, I have emailed Flax & Twine with a question on two separate occasions and they were very helpful and personable.
