Scheepjes Whirl Fine Art - Luxury Merino Gradient Yarn Cake

I am surprised to find that the yarn is not woven. It looks like several strands of yarn and its is quite easily split while crocheting. I am experienced enough not to get bogged down with the splitting but i am quite disappointed with the yarn. This is the first time i bought Scherpjees fine art whirl. I have worked with other scheepjees whirls without this problem. It is after all quite expensive and i expected better.
