Klydoclock

As a long-time collector of modern clocks (Kirsh Hamilton, Chronoart, QLOCKTWO, etc), I was thrilled to add this to my collection. After curating all the available faces down to a gorgeous selection of modern art, with a new face displayed every minute, this has quickly become one of my favorite clocks of all time.

I will admit, I was VERY hesitant about buying this clock based on the price. I thought about this purchase for a LONG time before getting it and I'm glad I went ahead and treated myself. Here are my CONS: 1. The sound of the tick tock sometimes sounds like it is skipping. I have tried to watch to see if there is something consistenly causing it - sometimes it sounds like it is doing it when it is changing to certain graphics but it has been hard for me to pinpoint the reason. 2. I wish you could have the clock cycle through your downloaded collections along with the regular FEED. The only work around that I have been able to find is to "favorite" the images within a collection and then just have the clock cycle through your FAVORITES but it would be nice to be able to just combine the FEED along with your COLLECTIONS. 3. Rechargeable remote. This is just a personal preference but I think I would have preferred a battery operated remote. The clock does not come with a cable to recharge the remote but it takes a USB-C charging port so I guess finding one around my house should be easy. 4. Additional COLLECTIONS cost anywhere from $10-12 on average. I don't know how I feel about that price point - I'm on the fence about it. Now for the PROS: 1. I got the Twilight Walnut - I was hoping it would be a tad darker but I still feel like the color goes with my decor well enough. 2. I appreciate the amount of control you have over which sounds are allowed and you have the ability to have different volumes for different functions. For example - I can set the "tick tock" sound at one volume and the chime at another. 3. The clock CHIMES but also will do the count of which hour it is. In previous reviews I had seen on youtube; reviewers were saying the clock didn't mark the hour - maybe this was an update? My only complaint about it marking the hour is that the it does it a little on the slow side for me. 4. Great variety in the animations. Not all of them are my cup of tea but they are constantly adding new animations - I love when a new one is added. 5. I appreciate being able to engage a SILENT time period as well as a NIGHT mode time period. I was going to put this under CONS but I think I will just make a separate note about it - I originally was drawn to the Klydoclock because of the WINGS ACROSS AMERICA Collection. I didn't realize that so many states had the SAME state bird, so unfortunately you get multiple duplicates of the same bird. That was a BIG disappointment. I still appreciate the collection but as someone who LOVES wild birds, I think I would love to see something that just has 50 individual species! Overall, I am very glad that I purchased the Klydoclock. I really hope that it works for a long time and doesn't become outdated "tech" that is no longer supported.
