I do not nor have I ever liked the oil vest. Let me be clear however. As a forester wanting to stay dry and durably dressed for the woods FILSON products are by far the best. Having been a FILSON buyer since 1965 there is only one product that I cannot figure why it is even made. The Oil Tin Cloth Vest is terrible. Who in heavens name wants to look like they are dirty? My last vest purchased 15 years ago was an oil vest just to try. Did no tlike it so it got washed until all the oil was gone. Now it resembles the NON OIL TIN CLOTH VEST. That is the clean looking dressed in the woods vest most likeable to most foresters. If you ask for the truth you will receive. Cheers, Kim

I love the look, but Filson really needs to move to a new wax. The peraphin wax absolutely wreeks of crayon. Several days of airing it out, vodka spray trick, no dice. Finally resorted to beginning the painful process of leaching the wax out, and its still very hard to get it all. Would be a 5 star if a higher quality wax was used.
