Quality seems to have declined

Haven't purchased a new Brahmin in probably 10 years, although I always loved them. I bought two as gifts this year and was somewhat disappointed at the quality change. It's not a major difference, but the price has increased, while quality is not as good. The leather is less pliable, and the fittings do not feel like brass any more. The zipper, particularly, looks like Chinese low quality. The lining is not the suede like fabric that used to come in all the Melbourne models, and is more obviously synthetic. Seems like a small, $400 bag could be silk lined with a good zipper.
