The design and quality of Porrada’s products are excellent. In fact, I would have happily left a 5-star review if my experience had ended there. Unfortunately, one item in my order didn’t fit and needed to be exchanged. Before shipping, the Porrada team had even reached out to ask for my height and weight to help confirm sizing, so I was surprised to learn that I would still be responsible for the return shipping costs. Given that sizing guidance was part of the purchase process, I believe some shared responsibility would have been reasonable.
More broadly, this highlights the reality of today’s retail landscape. Shopping has shifted dramatically from brick-and-mortar stores to online retailers. That transition has created tremendous savings for businesses by reducing expenses such as retail leases, showroom space, sales staff, utilities, and even losses from shoplifting. The tradeoff, however, is that customers can no longer see, feel, or try on products before purchasing. Instead, they are asked to make buying decisions based on photos, descriptions, and sizing charts. As a result, a certain percentage of returns is not only inevitable but should be expected as part of doing business online.
Rather than viewing returns as an inconvenience caused by the customer, I believe they should be considered a normal operating expense of e-commerce. Many successful online retailers have embraced this reality by providing prepaid return labels and making exchanges as seamless as possible. They recognize that an easy return process builds trust, encourages repeat business, and ultimately strengthens customer loyalty.
My recommendation to Porrada would be to adopt a similar philosophy by offering prepaid return shipping. The company is already benefiting from the reduced overhead associated with online retail, and passing a small portion of those savings back to customers would create a much better post-purchase experience.
The last suggestion would be to advertise people modeling their sportswear and list the height and weight numbers to each product description. Many retailers are doing this which is helpful beyond the size charts.
To be clear, this review is not a criticism of Porrada’s products. Their quality and design exceeded my expectations. My feedback is directed solely at the company’s return policy. Online shopping has fundamentally changed the retail industry, and customer-friendly return policies have become an important part of that evolution. I hope Porrada considers adapting to this new reality because I genuinely enjoy their products and would like to continue supporting the brand.
