History: Silken was developed at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre in Summerland, BC. In 1982, plant breeders R.A. MacDonald and W.D. Lane made a cross between Honeygold and Sunrise, eventually selecting this seedling due to its unique pale colouration and excellent flavour and texture.
